Made of shock-resistant plastic, the light component protects effectively from scratches or motor damage.
Especially eMTBs often suffer from impacts or stone chipping which damage the low-situated motor severely. Therefore, we were the first manufacturer to introduce the SkidPlate back in 2012, a protection element which protects the bottom side of the motor.
Bottom side protection:
Here the concept of a 'sacrifice part' applies: Similar to a helmet, the SkidPlate absorbs impact forces by deformation or destruction which would otherwise damage the significantly more expensive motor.
Plastic as ideal raw material:
This is why we also use a special, shock-resistant plastic. This material conducts the incoming forces very well but stays dimensionally stable even under severe deformation at the same time compared to other materials which do not switch back to their original shape after deformation. The production in the corresponding color perfectly hide scratches and smaller damage. If required, the SkidPlate can simply and cheaply be exchanged.
Haibike Integrated Motor Concept:
Haibike technically and visually perfected the integration of the motor into the frame.
The motor is the technological core and defining characteristic of an eBike. Thanks to our Gravity Casting motor interfaces we can integrate the motor in a compact manner without separate mounting plates. This concept reduces the space required to mount the motor and decreases the visual volume of the engine.
The SkidPlate is a useful protective device from a technical perspective, but also allows us to optically integrate the motor to make it part of the frame. Unlike other integration concepts, the motor looks like a natural part of the eBike.
Haibike Gravity Casting:
The heart of Haibike aluminum frames: lightweight, highly stable, and manufactured with a special casting technology used in the manufacturing of motorcycle parts.
The centerpiece of the frame: the motor interface. At this connection point many important functions come together: the engine mount, swing arm and shock mounts, and the battery and downtube connection. The more stable the interface is, the more stable the entire frame is.
We started using a casting process from the motorcycle industry, gravity casting, in 2010. Negative molds are created from compressed sand, filled with aluminum-zinc alloy, and then rotated along precisely calculated axes. Thanks to gravity, there is uniform thickness throughout the casting.
Light, stable and precise:
The raw cast aluminum parts are controlled by X-ray analysis and then reworked in a computerized process that ensures a consistently high level of precision, and a finished interface that is low weight and high-strength.
Yamaha PW-X Motor:
The brand new drive unit from Yamaha designed specifically for ePerformance! Despite its massive 80Nm torque it is extremely compact, lightweight and perfectly controllable.
The new compact and more powerful Yamaha PW-X motor was designed and developed for demanding ePerformance use. In comparison to the PW motor, its weight was reduced by nearly 400g to 3.1 kg, as well as its size, which was reduced by -13%.
An additional support level provides more power all the way up to high cadence ranges of 120 revolutions per minute. Despite having torque of up to 80Nm, the PW-X system provides a smooth, more silent and more natural driving experience. All rotating parts have been optimized with a focus on weight reduction.
As a result of the lower inertia caused by this weight reduction, these parts can move with greater efficiency relative to the input from your pedals. Combined with the new refined freewheel design which creates a rapid engagement of the cranks, the result is a significantly more responsive motor, which provides a new level of a natural riding feel.
The YAMAHA LCD-X Display:
In spite of its small construction size, it offers numerous information and functions.
The new, compact display of Yamaha LCD-X Systems offers a variety of information and functions, in spite of its small construction size.
This includes the selection and display of the support levels. Furthermore, it displays information about the battery charge, the remaining range, driving, average, and maximum speed as well as the daily and total distance. Time and the current cadence can also be displayed.
